Icebreaker Keys and What They Open

The Icebreaker contains several key‑locked rooms that hold the most valuable loot on the ship. Knowing where to look for each one and where to use them can easily double your raid profits. Below is a quick reference for every key, its spawn location, and what you will find inside:

Key

Where to find it

What it opens

What is behind the door

Boreas engine room keycard

Level 1, next to the dead engineer in the Infirmary. One is guaranteed to spawn every raid

The locked door on Level 0, east side, next to the control room - the route down to the Engine Room

Engine Room on Level -2: IBX Gigachad cryptographic processors on the lower floor, Memento Server RAM, quest items in the side rooms

Boreas crew quarters keycard

One of five spots on Level 3, around the Canteen and Gym. One is guaranteed to spawn every raid

Crew rooms 12, 15, 16, 18, 19, 22, 23 and 27 across Levels 3, 4 and 5

Loose loot in every room: electronics, medical supplies, stimulants, provisions, Moonshine

Compartment C-1 keycard

The server room on Level 7

Three hard drives for Mechanic, an Ultralink satellite communication module, Memento Server RAM, rare electronics.

Compartment C-3 keycard

Not a map spawn. Obtainable once as you progress the Boreas story chapter.

The laboratory on Level 1. The door will not open if your character lacks the required Boreas chapter progress

Multiple LEDX spawns, ISCC Analyzers, and the Boreas scientist audio tape - the highest-value medical room on the ship

BBQ-S43 gas torch

3 spawns inside Kitchen on Level 3

The frozen hatch on the bridge roof

The captain's room on Level 9: an Ultralink module, tech loot, and the C-1 keycard on his body

The chained door on the engine room roof

The route into the superstructure - and from there, the crew quarters

Most of the valuable loot - LEDX, the Ultralink satellite module, rare stimulants, and quest items is locked behind these doors. Having the right keys (or having our Specialists with you) makes the difference between an average run and an extraction with millions in your backpack. If you still have any questions about which keys to use where, reach out to our live support, we are happy to help.

What is the Icebreaker?

The Icebreaker is the first PvE-only location and, like its predecessor - Terminal, is home to the insanely challenging bots named the Black Division. It features tight corridors, multi-level interiors, and technical zones. This is not a map you want to learn by trial and error.

Our Icebreaker Raid Boost gets you through the raids without the usual frustration. We handle the difficult parts: routing, combat, objectives - so you can focus on the rewards. Whether you need the location unlocked, a specific achievement, or just want to improve your stash value, our Specialists have completed it dozens of times and are ready to help you achieve your goals without going broke.

Why You Need This Boost

Icebreaker is one of the most demanding areas in Tarkov, which contains extremely valuable loot. The ship’s narrow passages, vertical routes, and close-quarters fights make every raid unpredictable. Going in blind usually means lost gear and wasted time.

With our boost, you skip the painful learning curve. Our players know the safest routes, shortcuts, and key combat zones. You get the progression without the repeated failures.

F.A.Q.

Is Icebreaker PvE only?

Yes. Icebreaker is the first dedicated PvE map in Escape from Tarkov - you will not meet enemy player PMCs there, and regular AI Scavs do not spawn either. The enemies are Rogues, the Black Division, and the two bosses: The Wedge and Knight. The number of enemies scales with the number of players in the raid.

How do you unlock Icebreaker in Tarkov?

At first the map is reached only by transiting from the pier on Shoreline, after you unlock it in the story chapter Boreas. Direct access from the location select screen opens after you finish the questline "Stick to It". Our Icebreaker Unlock option covers the whole chain if you do not want to run it yourself.

How much does it cost to enter Icebreaker?

Boarding costs 400,000 Roubles, and the fee applies every raid - through the Shoreline transit and from the menu alike. On top of that you need 2,400 Euros in your inventory to pay for the helicopter extract. Both are why a failed run on this map hurts more than anywhere else in Tarkov.

Does insurance work on Icebreaker?

No. Insurance is disabled here, the same as on The Lab and the Labyrinth. Anything you die in is gone for good, unless a squadmate carries it out for you.

Can you play Icebreaker solo?

You can, but the map is built for one to three PMCs in a closed instance with no random matchmaking - you set your squad before boarding. Solo is the hardest way to run it: The Wedge still brings three guards, and there is nobody to carry your gear out if you go down.

How do you extract from Icebreaker?

There is one documented PMC extract: the Helicopter at the helipad. You have to fire a green flare - a handheld RSP-30 or a 26x75mm signal pistol - into the sky inside the signal area, and the flare has to reach enough height or the helicopter will not come. It also costs 2,400 Euros per player.

Who is The Wedge?

The Wedge is the Black Division faction leader and the main boss of Icebreaker. He has an 880 HP pool, a 100% spawn chance, and holds the gym area on Level 3 with three to six Black Division guards - three against a solo, six against a full squad. He drops a Spiritus Systems LV-119 plate carrier (MultiCam Black), a Peltor ComTac VI headset, an HK MP7, and up to 5k Euros.

Who is Knight and why is he on this map?

Knight from the Goons makes a one-off appearance on Level 0, in the Storage & Security area. Here he is guarded by two Rogues instead of his usual squad - Big Pipe and Birdeye do not spawn on Icebreaker. He drops the Death Knight mask, a Crye Precision CPC plate carrier (Goons Edition), and a Desert Eagle L6 .50 AE.

What is the best loot on Icebreaker?

The densest value sits behind keycards: the C-3 laboratory on Level 1 with its LEDX and ISCC Analyzer spawns, the server room on Level 7, and the crew rooms on Levels 3-5. Outside the locked doors, the Infirmary on Level 1 and the technical area pay for the raid on their own - stims, LEDX, and graphics cards. See the loot table above for the full breakdown.
